Literature Text

I’m in a town that drags me down,
With daggers in men’s smiles,
And sympathy long beneath the ground,
Where the arms that hold,
Are the tongue that scolds,
So bold to express
What one can withhold,
The inner safe is neither safe nor does it bring peace,
It provokes it’s brothers to surface wildly,
But what can we change?

I’m in a mood I cannot prove,
For in anger a smile still breaks,
To think of you and the webs you weave,
Though you deceive still I believe,
In love and heavenly skies,
And all other wonderful lies,
Which pry into humble hearts,
To invoke complacent security,
In what we cannot change,
But what can’t we change?

So why fight the night,
Day must break,
The sun must take it’s rest,
And test the eternal commitments of the dawn,
As all commitments must be tested,
And all questioned that is vested,
In our hearts, and souls and wishes,
In our dreams and love’s inventions,
Which tinker with our hearts,
Who break for what we cannot change.
...more a meditation than anything
